Michelle and Jason Bowers are former parishioners. They now live in Bay Head, New Jersey. Their youngest son, Jaxon, was admitted to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia on February 25, 2010. He was three months old and rapidly succumbing to swine flu.
Just a few days earlier he was a healthy newborn, receiving the total attention of his four older brothers at the Bower home. And now, the doctors and medical staff at CHOP were trying to bring Michelle and Jason to acknowledge that they were about to lose their baby.
All of Jaxon’s internal organs were failing. He was being temporarily kept alive by the most extreme forms of life support. The doctors were buying time in order to assist his parents to accept the inevitable.
Michelle was not giving up! Another St. Peter’s parishioner put her in touch with someone who had a first class relic of the Servant of God, Maria Esperanza, whose beatification cause was opened in the Diocese of Metuchen the month before.
Jaxon was blessed with the relic and immediately showed improvement. Within three weeks he left the hospital. Today he is a healthy, feisty six-year-old boy. The medical team at CHOP was unable to explain his recovery scientifically. Michelle and Jason know for certain that it was Maria Esperanza’s intercession that saved their child.
Michelle, Jason, Jaxon and the other four Bower boys will be here at St. Peter’s on the first day of our Forty Hours. Michelle will tell the entire story of her boy’s healing. You will be astounded when you hear all the details.
See you then!
