DRE Flora Hand to Retire

Dear Friends,

Flora Hand, our Director of Religious Education is retiring. Flora has worked for the past six (6) years here in our parish. Prior to this, she held the DRE position at Corpus Christi Parish in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ and Divine Mercy Parish in Merritt, FL. She also worked in the religious education departments for the Diocesan Offices in Trenton, NJ and Burlington, VT.

Before working for the Church, Flora was an elementary school teacher in New Hampshire and was the owner / manager of a retail business.

Flora has quite a resume of education behind her as well. She obtained her Masters of Arts in Theology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, a Bachelor of Science in Education from Plymouth State College, and an Associates Degree in Horticulture from Temple University.

More importantly, Flora is the mother of five (5) children, 20 grandchildren, and three (3) great-grandchildren.

Flora has done a wonderful job here at St. Peter. She has always conducted herself in a gracious and professional manner. Moreover, she has always exhibited a strong, feminine, Christian character. She is always considerate of the needs of our catechists and parents, while holding the religious formation of our children as her highest priority.

Flora now intends to devote herself to writing and to ministry at her parish.

We wish her the greatest blessings and happiness in the next phase of her life. We also express our deepest gratitude for all she has done here at St. Peter.

God bless you always, Flora!

Fr. Tim Byerley

Pastor

NB: Our new Coordinator of Religious Education will be Saint Peter Parishioner, Stephanie Vostenak. She will shadow Flora for the rest of the school year and officially replace her on July 1, 2017. More about Stephanie will appear in next week's Pastor Column.
