One More Sacrifice for Saint Peter's ...

Dear Friends,

I am sure that most of you know that priests are at the low end of the salary scale. With this in mind, I am going to publicly disclose something that I have never done before. This year, as in years past, I donated $5,000.00 to the House of Charity. I believe in it and I also do it for my parish.

I have once again come to love St. Peter’s (this is my second assignment here). So, I am going to do something drastic. I am going to donate an additional $1,000.00 to the House of Charity. I make this extra sacrifice for the poor and vulnerable, but also out of pride for my parish. St. Peter’s has always been outstanding in its generosity to the House of Charity, and I want our great parish to maintain its reputation and sense of pride in this regard. The only reason I would ever make these disclosures is because the situation is extreme and therefore requires extreme measures!

With this in mind, I challenge every parishioner, including those who already donated, to match my second gift, or come as close as possible to doing so. I want to point out that we are currently at 90% of our goal. We have raised $217,655.00 of our $241,118.00 goal. We are $23,463.00 short. When we make our goal, we will receive 10% back, or $24,112.00, to use as we wish for the parish. Assuming we make our goal, it is now possible to say that, from this moment forward, for all practical purposes, every dollar given to the House of Charity is like giving a dollar directly to the parish, because it will come back to us in our rebate.

So I invite you to match my sacrifice and finish the job to get St. Peter’s across the goal line and win our $24,112.00 rebate! Step up and be a hero for your parish!

P.S. Donations may be made anonymously.

With absolute trust in your goodness,

Fr. Tim Byerley

Pastor
